Welcome…
to my music studio called MusicLessons4fun, where personalized, one-on-one instruction is provided in a very relaxed atmosphere. My goal is to keep your lessons stress free and fun!
I have been giving private, one on one instrumental lessons for over 50 years and love what I do. I am very relaxed, easy to get along with, love to laugh and have fun! I believe in keeping your lesson time relaxed and stress free. My desire is to help you learn whatever instrument you’ve chosen well enough to be able to play it for the rest of your life!
Teaching Style
The instruments I offer to teach are Piano, Guitar, Banjo, Dulcimer, Violin, Mandolin, Ukulele (soprano, concert, tenor and baritone), Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Harmonica and Snare Drum. The genres of music I enjoy teaching are gospel and bluegrass, but I also enjoy teaching classical, western, traditional oldies, movie themes, blues, old rock n roll. We can talk about the kind of music you would like to learn and I will do my best to help you learn some of your favorites!
Curriculum
For piano I like Faber and Faber. For guitar, banjo, dulcimer, mandolin and ukulele, I mainly use the tablature method, incorporating some note reading as well, if so desired. Flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, harmonica and snare drum are taught using Hal Leonard and a variety of other books that are very good. I like the Hal Leonard and Suzuki method for violin. Aside from the basic lesson books, I incorporate many other books that cover a wide range of styles/genres of music. Books and individual songs of your choice will also be incorporated into the lessons to make learning even more enjoyable. After all, this is why you want to learn so you can play the songs you like!
